📥  Karr Sift  /  Inbox triage

Let's get Karr Sift working for you.

Sift reads every email as it lands, files it, and writes the reply when a real client asks something. You never have to sort your own inbox again.

This takes about ten minutes. You'll create a free login, connect your Gmail, and answer a couple of quick questions. Nothing to install.

Step 1 of 6

Create your free n8n login

This is the engine that runs Karr Sift in the background. You only do this once, ever.

  1. Open the link below. It opens in a new tab, this page will still be here.
  2. Click Sign up in the corner, and use the email you check most often.
  3. Set a password and confirm your email if it asks.
Open n8n and sign up →
Step 2 of 6

Get your free writing key

This is what lets Karr Sift actually write things, in your voice, for free. Google gives this out at no cost.

  1. Open the link below and sign in with your Google account.
  2. Click Create API key. It's a big button, hard to miss.
  3. Copy the code it gives you. It looks like a long jumble of letters, that's normal.
Open Google AI Studio →

This stays on your own device. We'll remind you exactly where it goes inside n8n in a moment.

Step 3 of 6

Connect your accounts

Inside n8n, click Credentials in the left menu, then Add Credential, for each of these.

  1. Gmail. So it can read what arrives and write replies in your drafts.
Open n8n credentials →

Create four folders in Gmail first. These are where Karr Sift will file things. In Gmail, go to Settings, then Labels, then Create new label, and add each of these:

AI/client-inquiryAI/newsletterAI/needs-actionAI/low-priority

Sift needs to know which address is yours, so it never treats your own sent mail as a stranger's email.

Step 4 of 6

A couple of quick questions

Nothing technical, just so Karr Sift fits how you actually work.

Paste this into the node called Skip My Own Mail once you're inside n8n.

Just for you to keep an eye on. Sift treats anything unclear as worth a reply, so this rarely needs tuning.

Step 5 of 6

Bring in the workflow

The file 04-karr-sift.json was sent to you separately. Download it from wherever you received it.

  1. In n8n, click the three dots in the top right, then Import from File.
  2. Pick 04-karr-sift.json from your downloads.
  3. Open each node with a dashed box or a placeholder, and fill in your writing key and your accounts from steps 2 and 3.

Karr Sift has no form. Once imported and turned on, it runs itself on a schedule, nothing to open.

Step 6 of 6

Try it before you trust it

A few real checks, so you know it works before it touches a real client or a real invoice.

When it looks right, save the workflow and turn on the Active toggle at the top. That's the last step.

Karr Sift is live.

That's the whole setup. It runs from here on its own.
